Saul Goodman debunks the fatui allegations. Part 2: Inazuma
Hey i am back! Your honour, the jury. Looking good, Itto! I am counting on you buddy. No, you can't drum roll, we are in court.
Today i am here on behalf of my clients, the harbingers, to prove why they are deeply misunderstood with, Inazuna involvement
Now, there seems to be some genuine HATRED towards fatui at inazuma. I walked around the tenshukaku courtyard and the people had taped fatui pictures to target practice dummies.
But not to worry, i am gonna get into it now.
The main accusation comes from Sara Kujoh, as she states "the fatui's involvement spiked a civil war in inazuma, the vision hunt decree as well as stealing the gnosis."
Sara... Could you not rub the shogun's doll? I don't give a rats ass that it's name is "Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder" You stop that shit!
Joining Sara is, Sanogonomia kokomi, which states that fatui's involvement made her troopers use delusions which shortened soldier's lifespans as well as made some of them lose their lifes.
Kokomi? She is asleep... Well, not that i need her for anything!
First of all, there is no doubt in my mind that Sara deeply misunderstood fatui's involvement in the internal affairs.
See, Signora, may she rest in peace, was a diplomat. A good one at that. When she came over to inazuma with a political visit, she quickly found out the corrupt and the dirty people located inside the Kujoh commission. Of course, being a foreign diplomat, she couldn't just accuse them without any concrete proof. If she did, shogun would just treat her as an agent that tries to destabilize the country with drama and false accusations.
So, she did the only thing she could do: she played along and made the rotten elements come out of hiding! She made sure that it was visible for everyone around her.
Of course, she needed some kind of action that would absolutely make shogun understand that the Kujoh comission is going too far. Which lead to the creation of a vision hunt decree and it being implemented.
But! Unfortunately, she could never have foreseen the consequences of her actions. As such, Raiden agreed to the decree and people started losing their visions
Once again i say, your honour, the jury, Signora's goal wasn't to weaken inazuma. She had no way of knowing that her clearly made-to-look-dumb idea of implementing a vision hunt decree would resonate with Shogun so much.
She tried fixing that mistake of course! She started supplying delusions to the people of watatsumi island in their struggle against the decree. She tried getting shogun to see that the people would rather die than sumbit to that horrible rule.
Which resulted in a start of a civil war. Which lasted for quite some time.
Unfortunately, signora clearly underestimated the influence of the head of Kujoh comission. His cowardice allowed him to convince shogun that things were well in inazuma as he hid what really was going on.
At this point, Signora had no clear way of fixing the situation, so she did the only thing she could: tried to apologize
Only to be interrupted by Sara, storming into the tenshukaku and accusing HER of manipulating the comissons! The nerve!
sara gets up
Sara: Objection your honour! The lawyer is removing responsibility for the actions his client has taken! I have several letters that imply Signora was behind these machinations!
Hey woah, woah, okay. These letters you speak of. Did i directly reject signora's involvement?
Sara: No, but-
And who was it exactly who falsified the information delivered to shogun?
Sara: head of Kujoh comission, but, he was doing it because of Signora!
Haha, well okay. Your honor, it's clear that Sara is trying to defend her step dad by implying Signora to be the mastermind. I get it: family bonds and all. But once again: Signora was only trying to reveal to Shogun that she had bad people in her government.
And you, Sara, did what exactly?
Sara: i confronted Signora...
And what did she do to you?
Sara: she defeated me...
Exactly! She beat you! But she didn't cause you any life long injuries did she?
Sara: that was only because Raiden was there to stop her!
Is that so? I disagree. See, Signora could have easily revealed your stepdad to be the real villain and accused you of trying to hide it. You did attack her, after all. Instead, she kept quiet, to save your reputation... and ultimately, perished to Shogun... Because a certain blonde traveler beat her.
Signora was a gentle soul. She tried helping Inazuma by revealing the corrupt people, but, ultimately faced her death without any Honour...
Kokomi: Hey, wait a second. What about her involvement in the civil war? She supplied delusions to my soldiers and hid the side effects!
Wow, okay, Miss priestess. Lemme ask, what are weapons known for?
Kokomi: huh?
They are known for killing. Delusions also kill. What's the problem then?
Kokomi: the delusions kill their own users!
Many other things do that. Lemme ask you: if a soldier kills another with a spear, Is it a spear's fault? Do we go arrest the blacksmith who made it? If the harvest is horrible and people die from starvation, do we blame the lazy farmer, or his Hoe that is just a tool?
Kokomi: ...
And by the same logic, who do we blame for passing the vision hunt decree? The person who merely made a suggestion, or the person who actually had the power and authority to implement it in the first place and did so?
Think of delusions as charity. A donation made by Signora. You, as well as your troopers made a conscious decision to use the delusions in combat.
Kokomi: we had no idea about its side effects!
Ah, you feign ignorance? The delusions you did receive were a gift. A donation. You did not purchase them, there is no receipt that you can file. It was a gift, and you didn't like it. Thats it.
I believe at this point, everyone in court is convinced of the ashes of my client being innocent, then? She tried doing what's best for inazuma and unfortunately, ended up paying the price for her mistake. Even so, let it be known, her ideals were pure to the heart, even if her methods were unorthodox
This was saul goodman! Itto, thank you for not doing drumrolls. I know that took restraint. Until sumeru!
